Community Health trains you to work at the grassroots level, promoting health, preventing disease, and supporting community members with basic healthcare services. You’ll learn to provide health education, assist in immunization programs, conduct screenings, and support maternal and child health. TVET-CDACC-accredited courses give you practical skills, ethical knowledge, and hands-on experience to work effectively in community health programs, hospitals, NGOs, and government health departments.

What you will learn

The TVET CDACC curricula are competency-based and grouped into Basic, Common and Core competencies. Below are representative modules you’ll find in each level (modules and unit titles vary slightly between institutions but follow TVET CDACC occupational standards).

Level 6

• Advanced community health strategies and public health planning

• Epidemiology, disease surveillance, and outbreak management

• Leadership and management in community health programs

• Nutrition, reproductive health, and adolescent health services

• Research, monitoring, and evaluation of health interventions

• Extended community attachment with field supervision

• Ethics, policy, and regulatory compliance in community health practice

Level 5

• Introduction to community health and human anatomy

• Basic health promotion and disease prevention

• Maternal and child health support

• Hygiene, sanitation, and infection control

• Communication, health education, and community engagement

• First aid and basic emergency response

• Supervised practical placement in community health programs
